Kaitlyn Marie Schou was born on November 1, 1996 in Altamonte Springs, Florida to Richard and Kim. She has an older brother, Austin and a younger sister, Alana. Currently, Kaitlyn is in 9th grade at FLVS. During Kaitlyn's spare time, she likes to go swimming, drawing and boating.

At the age of three, Kaitlyn's mom put her in a tiny tots class with her play group. She began her competitive career at the age of five as a level 3 gymnast. She moved to Orlando Metro Gymnastics when she was six years old as a level 4 gymnast. In 2005, Kaitlyn competed level five. She moved up to prep-optional in 2006. She finished second in the all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational.

In 2007, she moved up to level seven. Kaitlyn placed second in the all-around at the Gasparilla Classic. At the Level 7 State Championships, she finished fourth in the all-around, third on floor exercise and first on uneven bars.

Kaitlyn competed level eight in 2008. She won uneven bars, balance beam and the all-around at the Atlanta Crown meet. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she won floor exercise and the all-around. Kaitlyn then finished first in the all-around and balance beam at the Hard Rock Invitational. At the City of Lights Invitational, she won vault, uneven bars and the all-around. She finished out the regular season by winning vault and the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. At the Level 8 State Championships, she swept the gold medals. She ended her season with a third place finish at the Level 8 Regional championships.

She moved up to level nine in 2009. At the Metroplex Challenge, she finished third in the all-around. She then won vault, uneven bars and the all-around at the Palm Beach Invitational. At the City of Lights, she won everything except for a second place finish on floor exercise. She swept the gold medals at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. For the second year in a row, Kaitlyn swept the gold medals at the Level 9 State Championships. She won the uneven bars title and placed second in the all-around at the Level 9 Regional Championships. At the Level 9 Eastern National Championships, Kaitlyn finished second in the all-around. She placed in the top six on every event, including second place finishes on uneven bars and balance beam.

In 2010, Kaitlyn began her season at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational, where she finished fifth in the all-around and first on vault. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she placed fifth overall and third on balance beam in the elite division. Kaitlyn concluded her 2010 season at the Texas National Elite Qualifier.

Kaitlyn started her 2011 season at the TBT Invitational where she placed third on balance beam and eighth in the all-around. She placed third in the all-around at both Atlanta Crown Invitational and Daytona Beach Open. At the Presidential Classic and Northern Lights Classic, she placed fourth overall. Kaitlyn placed sixth in the all-around and second on balance beam at the Level 10 Regionals. There, she qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Long Beach, California. At the JO Nationals, she placed 36th overall.

In 2012, Kaitlyn finished first on balance beam and in the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. At the Kurt Thomas Invitational in Texas, she finished first on balance beam, floor exercise and in the all-around. She placed fifth in the all-around as well as second on balance beam and floor exercise at the Presidential Classic. At the Tim Rand Invitational, she placed second in the all-around and first on balance beam and floor exercise. She did really well at the National Gymnastics Challenge, finishing first on balance beam and in the all-around with a 38.375. At the Level 10 Regionals, she finished third in the all-around and first on balance beam, qualifying to the JO Nationals. At the Nationals in Hampton, VA, Kaitlyn placed 16th in the all-around and fourth on balance beam.

Currently, Kaitlyn trains 30 hours a week at Brandy Johnson's Global Gymnastics Academy under coaches Kelly Pitzen, Brandy Johnson and Brian Amato. She is preparing for the upcoming 2013 season.
