Kayla Sienkowski was born on October 8, 1992 in Rockville, Maryland to John and Sonja Sienkowski. She has an older brother, John Matthew (17); who plays football for Susquehanna University. Currently, Kayla is a senior at Frederick High School (Class of 2010). Currently, Kayla is a level 10 gymnast from Frederick Gymnastics Club under coach Larisa Firestone.

Kayla began gymnastics in 1995, when she was three years old. She finished sixth in the all-around at the 2002 Level 6 State Championships. In 2003, Kayla moved up to level 7. She placed second in the all-around as well as second on uneven bars and first on balance beam at the Judges Invitational. At the Jingle Bell, she won the all-around title. She then placed second in the all-around at the sectionals and first in the all-around at the Valentine Invitational. Kayla concluded her 2003 season with a gold medal in the all-around at the Level 7 State Championships. She also earned three medals on bars, beam and floor.

In 2004 as a level 8, Kayla placed second in the all-around at the Frederick Classic. She then won the all-around title at the Level 8 State Championships. She also won a gold medal on uneven bars and a silver medal on balance beam. At the Level 8 Regional Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around. That same year, Kayla qualified to junior pre-elite and competed at the US Challenge.

Kayla competed as a level 9 for next three years. In 2005, she qualifed to the Level 9 Regional Championships. In 2006, Kayla won a silver medal in the all-around as well as a gold medal on vault at the Leve 9 State Championsihps. In 2007, Kayla placed in the top three in almost every competition that she has competed. She won the all-around title at the Level 9 State Championships and Level 9 Regional Championships. There, she qualified to the Leve 9 Eastern Championships, where she placed first on uneven bars and in the all-around!

As a level 10 in 2008, Kayla placed third in the all-around at the Charleston Cup. She then won the all-around title at the Frederick Classic. At the Level 10 State Championships, she took home a silver medal in the all-around as well as a gold medal on balance beam. There, she qualified to the Level 10 Regional Championships. In 2009, Kayla was injured most of the season and concluded her season at the Level 10 State Championships. There, she won a silver medal on floor exercise and a bronze medal on vault.
