Kayla competed last night at the Level 10 Region VII Championships where she finished 11th in the all-around. she placed fifth on uneven bars scoring a 9.150. She qualified to JO National Invitational Tournament in Dallas, Texas. Good job Kayla!

Kayla had a great meet this past weekend at the Level 10 Maryland State Championships. She finished third in the all-around with a 36.450. She won silver medals on balance beam and floor exercise scoring a 9.350 and 9.200 respectively. There, she qualified to the Level 10 Regional Championships on April 9-11. Good job Kayla!

Kayla won the all-around title at the Frederick Classic Invitational this past weekend. She also won gold medals on balance beam and floor exercise scoring a 9.25 and 9.15 respectively. Good job Kayla! She will be competing at the Level 10 State Championships next weekend.

Kayla competed at the Winter Caribbean Invitational last weekend in Puerto Rico. She finished third all-around with a 35.675. Kayla also placed third on beam and first on bars. Great Job!

This past weekend, Kayla traveled to Florida for the 2010 Magical Classic. She did well, where she finished fourth in the all-around with a 36.3. She won a gold medal on balance beam scoring a 9.375 and finished fourth on floor exercise with a 9.0. Good job Kayla!

Kayla finished seventh in the all-around out of 22 gymnasts this weekend at the 2010 Maryland Classic. She won a silver medal on uneven bars with a 9.2. Good job Kayla! Full results have been posted from the meet. Some videos have been posted from last two months.

Kayla is in Cancun, Mexico for the 2009 Cancun Classic. She only did one event, uneven bars, due of a sprained ankle from a few weeks ago. She placed fifth place on uneven bars scoring 8.4.

Kayla competed this past weekend at the Commonwealth Cup. She finished 8th in the all-around and 2nd on floor exercise. She showed her brand new uneven bars routine for the first time! Hard to believe the summer is half over but it has been very productive- attended NC State's Wolfpack Camp in June, Region 7 Pre-Season Prep camp in July, learning new skills, college visits as well as 2 more clinics before the summer is over. But, it has not been all work... vacation in Virginia Beach, movies,and hanging out with my friends and more.

She also brought home a bronze medal on uneven bars scoring 9.325 and a gold medal on balance beam scoring 9.375. She made the Maryland State team and qualified to the Level 10 Regionals. Happy Easter! I'm finally back on track. My last two meets have been very successful and rewarding. South Carolina was a lot of fun. We went on an exciting ghost tour and had a day of shopping in downtown Charleston.
Our home gym meet was interesting, loud and exciting. We had gyms from Ohio, Virginia, Delaware, and all over Maryland. I'm very proud to say that our team won first place and we are excited and ready for States. We couldn't have made it this far without our coach, Larisa. She has helped us through thick and thin this year.

Kayla had an awesome meet this past weekend at the Frederick Classic. She won the all-around with a 37.600. Kayla did really well this past weekend at the Charleston Cup in South Carolina. She placed 3rd in the all-around with a 36.475. Kayla just finished competing at the Hill's Maryland Classic today. She won a silver medal on balance beam scoring 9.400. She then placed 7th on vault and 10th on floor exercise. Kayla finished 6th in the all-around out of 20 gymnasts. Good job Kayla! Full results have been posted from the meet. Hopefully pictures and videos will be coming very soon.

Happy New Year, Everyone! It has already been rough beginning of the 2007-2008 season. After returning from Eastern Nationals (in May) on Monday, the following Friday I under went arthroscopic surgery on my right elbow to remove the bone chip. It was a long summer filled with recovery and hard work getting back all of my skills. One week prior to the Region 7 High Performance Clinic, I had a high ankle sprain, which limited me to bar work. Slowly recovering from the ankle sprain, my left elbow began hurting from all of the extra bar work I was doing. Which regrettably, slowed my training for the up coming season thus limiting my competition for the Black Eyed Susan and scaling back routines for the Christmas on the Cheasapeake. Things always happen in threes...during the Christmas holiday once again laid up but, this time with a virus.
I'm back in the gym now; gaining strength everyday. I'm looking forward to putting my routines back in order and enjoying the season ahead, especially, this being the last year with my best friend, Kelsey Joannides who is heading off to the University of Illinois next year. Check back in a couple weeks, I have the Hill Maryland Classic coming up and hope to have a great meet.

Kayla competed this past weekend at the Black-Eyed Susan Invitational. She only competed on balance beam due of an ankle injury. She did well, tying for a third place with the score of 8.750. Kayla's Level 10 teammates Audrey Tolbert and Katrina Carpenter placed second and eighth in the all-around respectively. Kelsey Joannides finished second in the all-around (different age group) and had just signed her National Letter of Intent with University of Illinois. Also, Kayla's Level 10 Team finished first!
