Morgan began gymnastics at the age of six. Morgan's mom put her in a recreational class for fun. Currently, Morgan is a senior international elite gymnast from Brandy Johnson's Global Gymnastics Academy in Clermont, Florida. She is training under coaches Brandy Johnson-Scharpf, Brian Amato and Kelly Pitzen.

In 2004, Morgan competed as a level seven. She finished fourth in the all-around at the Gasparilla Invitational. She won a silver medal at the Le Bon Temp meet. Morgan moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished second in the all-around at the Battle of the Champions and third in the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. Morgan won the all-around title at the Lightning City Classic. She then won the all-around title at the Level 8 State Championships.

Morgan moved up to level nine in 2006. She won the all-around title at the Charleston Cup. At the Level 9 State Championships, she finished seventh in the all-around and third on vault. She then placed second on vault as well as 10th in the all-around at the Level 9 Regional Championships. There, she qualified to the Level 9 Eastern National Championships. At the Nationals, she finished eighth on vault and ninth on uneven bars. After the Junior Olympic Season, she competed as a hopes elite at the US Challenge, where she finished 16th overall.

She competed as a level ten in 2007. At the Gasparilla Classic, she finished first in the all-around as well as first on vault and floor exercise. Morgan then finished first and third in the all-around at the Level 10 State Championships and Regional Championships respectively. She qualified to the Junior Olympic Nationals, where she finished 19th in the all-around, sixth on uneven bars and fifth on floor exercise. Morgan qualified to junior international elite shortly after the JO Nationals. At the US Classic, she qualified for the US National Championships! At the Nationals in San Jose, California, Morgan finished 19th in the all-around and 9th on uneven bars.

In 2008, Morgan competed at the IGI Chicago Style, where she won the vault title and placed third on vault. Soon after at the US National Training Center in Huntsville, Texas, Morgan earned a spot on the US National Team after being selected for an international meet in Italy. She helped the United States team defeat Italy, Romania and Spain. At the US Classic, she finished fourth on uneven bars as well sa sixth on floor exercise and vault. At the VISA Championships, Morgan finished 18th in the all-around and sixth on uneven bars.

Morgan started 2009 with the Presidential Classic, where she finished second on uneven bars. At the Gasparilla Classic, she won the vault and uneven bars titles. In February, she placed fourth in the all-around and second on vault at the American Classic in San Diego, California. There, she qualified to the VISA Championships for the third time. At the US Covergirl Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, Morgan finished fifth in the all-around, fourth on vault and seventh in the all-around. A few weeks later, Morgan traveled to Dallas, Texas for the VISA Championships. There, she made the junior US National Team after finishing sixth in the all-around and second on uneven bars. In October, Morgan was selected to represent the USA team at the Top Gym Invitational in Belgium. Unfortunately, Morgan was unable to compete due of a flu on the day of the competition.

Morgan Sidney Smith was born on April 11, 1994 in Norfolk, Virginia to Patrick and Lisa Smith. She currently residents in Clermont, Florida with her parents, one brother, Tyler (17) and a cat named Peek-A-Boo. Currently, Morgan is a sophomore at East Ridge High School and Florida Virtual School. During her spare time, she loves to do different kind of sports, such as rock climbing.
