Amy Glass was born on January 24, 1989. She trained at Davis Diamonds Gymnastics through the 2005 season. She then moved to International Gymnastics Centre. Amy graduated from high school in 2007.

In 2000, Amy competed level eight. She placed in the top ten at the State Championships. She competed level nine in 2002. She finished second on beam at the Sweetheart Invitational. Amy began competing level ten in 2003. She finished third all-around at the Blast Off Invitational. She finished fourth on beam at the State Championships. In 2004, Amy placed in the top ten at the State Championships. She finished in the top ten at Regionals. Amy finished fourth on floor at the 2005 Flips USA Invitational. She placed third on bars and floor at the California Classic. At the State Championships, she finished first on bars and third all-around. Amy finished in the top fifteen at Regionals.

Amy won vault at the 2006 Flips USA Invitational. She finished first on floor at the Golden State Classic. At the Novato Classic, she won vault. Amy won vault and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed fourth on beam. She finished seventh on floor and 19th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2007, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the International Cup. She placed second all-around at the Flips USA Invitational and Golden State Classic. Amy won vault and bars at the Novato Classic. At the State Championships, she placed first on beam and the all-around. Amy won floor and placed third all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed fourth on vault, first on floor and ninth all-around!

As a freshman at Boise State in 2008, Amy competed in the all-around in all twelve meets. She won vault at Utah State. She placed second at Fullerton on vault and bars. She won beam and the all-around. She earned WAC Gymnast of the Week and WAC Specialist of the Week. Amy was a WAC All-Academic honoree. In 2009, she competed in one meet before suffering a season-ending neck injury at San Jose State. She returned in 2010 to compete in all eleven meets as an all-around athlete. She won three bar titles, three all-around titles, two vault titles and one beam title. She won the WAC Champion on beam, earning first-team All-WAC honors. Amy earned second-team honors on vault, floor and the all-around. She was named 2010 West Region Athlete of the Year.
