Allison Iovino was born on August 10th, 1992 in Long Island, New York. Alison isn't the only Iovino with gymnastics talent; her older sister Jennifer is also a competitive gymnast! Alison began competitive gymnastics in the fall of 1999, as a Level 5. Her immediate strength appeared to be the balance beam, which she won at her first local competition. By the spring of 2001, Alison was to culminate her season at the Level 6 state championships. The result was a state all-around title that nobody - not even herself - expected!
Alison made the jump to Level 8 in 2003 and placed first on the balance beam at the Level 8 State Championships. She once again moved up another level 9 in the next year. An unfortunate beam routine kept her out of the State Championships so she repeated level 9 in 2005. She made it all the way to the Eastern National Championships where she placed 12th all-around and 7th on uneven bars. After the level 9 season, Alison tested Junior Pre-Elite and made it. She finished her season off at the US Challenge. Alison competed as a level 10 in 2006 and qualified to Junior Olympic National Championships. After retiring from gymnastics, Allison began competing in competitive cheerleading. She graduated from high school in 2010, and enrolled at the University of Maryland.
In addition to her success in the Junior Olympic program, Alison is a three-time member of the TOPS National A-Team, one of the highest honors a young American gymnast can receive.
