Ashlyn Kirby was born on April 2, 1998. Her sister, Whitney, is currently a gymnast at Georgia. Ashlyn trains at Shooting Stars. Ashlyn will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2004, Ashlyn competed level four. She finished first on bars and third all-around at the Turkey Tumble. At the State Championships, she won beam. She finished second on bars and in the all-around. Ashlyn moved up to level five in 2005. She finished first on bars and the all-around at the Lumberton Fun meet. She spent the rest of the season as a level six. Ashlyn placed second all-around at the Harvest Hoe Down. She finished second all-around and first on vault at the State Championships. She continued competing level six in 2006. She finished sixth all-around at the State Championships.

Ashlyn competed level seven in 2007. She finished second all-around at the Twin City Classic. At the State Championships, she won beam and the all-around. Ashlyn had a strong level eight season in 2008. She placed third on floor at the Buckeye Classic. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she won beam and placed second all-around. She finished third on vault, beam and floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished third on floor and sixth all-around. Ashlyn moved up to level nine in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Judges Cup. She won beam at both the Hilton Head Island Invitational and Flip Fest Invitational. Ashlyn won bars, beam, and the all-around at the Tiger Paw Invitational. She won five gold medals at the National Gymnastics. At the State Championships, Ashlyn placed first on beam. She placed in the top fifteen at Regionals.

She began competing level ten in 2010. She won beam and floor at the Greensboro Gymnastics Invite. She placed second at the Flip Fest Invitational. Ashlyn won beam at the Excalibur Cup. At the Charleston Cup, she won beam and placed third all-around. She won beam at the State Championships. Ashlyn finished 12th all-around at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, she placed first on beam and third all-around. In 2011, Ashlyn finished first all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. She won vault and floor at the Greensboro Gymnastics Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she won beam. She placed in the top twenty at Regionals.
