Amanda Lauer was born on March 30, 1993. Her twin sister, Jennifer, is also a gymnast. Amanda trained at Siouxland Gymnastics until midway through the 2009 season. She then moved to Premier Omaha. Amanda will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2005, she competed level eight. She finished 20th all-around at Regionals. She moved up to level nine in 2006. She just missed qualifying to Westerns. In 2007, a concussion kept her out of Regionals. Amanda began competing level ten in 2008. She won the all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. In 2009, she finished second on beam at the Chow's Rising Stars Invitational. At the IGI Chicago Style, she placed third on floor. She won beam and finished second all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. At Regionals, she placed third on bars and fifth all-around. Amanda ended her season at JO Nationals, placing 45th all-around.

Amanda continued competing level ten in 2010. She finished second on bars at the New Year Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she placed third on beam. Amanda competed on three events at the State Championships, winning beam. At Regionals, she finished second all-around. She won beam. She ended her season at JO Nationals, placing sixth on beam. She finished 30th all-around.
