Leilani Alferos was born on November 17, 1990. She trained at Olympic Gymnastics Academy during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2009.
In 2001, Leilani competed level six. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She moved up to level seven in 2002. She competed level eight in 2003. She finished second all-around at Regionals. Leilani competed level nine in 2004. She finished fourth all-around at the California Classic. She placed fourth on beam and floor at the State Championships. She finished in the top fifteen at Regionals. In 2005, Leilani won vault at the Surf City Classic and floor at the Gold Medal Invitational. She won vault at the State CHampionships. She placed second on vault at Regionals. At Westerns, Leilani placed second on vault, tenth on bars, ninth on beam, fifth on floor and fourth all-around!
Leilani began competing level ten in 2006. She finished in the top ten at both the State and Regional Championships. She competed at JO Nationals. Leilani struggled with an injury during the 2007 season. In 2008, she won bars at the National Judges Cup. She finished second all-around at the Surf City Classic. She placed first on floor and second all-around at the State Championships. She finished in the top ten all-around at Regionals. In 2009, Leilani won the all-around titles at the Surf City Classic, California Classic and Glider Invitational. She finished second all-around at the State Championships and fifth all-around at Regionals. She finished 20th all-around at JO Nationals.
As a freshman at Oregon State, Leilani competed on vault three times and on bars twice. She performed exhibitions on vault five times in 2011. She continued to improve on bars and beam. Leilani decided to transfer to Cal after the 2011 season. She will sit out the 2012 season due to transfer rules.
