Alyssa Johnson was born on July 23, 1997. She trained at Gleason's Maple Grove until midway through the 2009 season. She then moved to Twin City Twisters. Alyssa will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2006, Alyssa competed level five. She had a strong performance at the IGI Chicago Style. Alyssa competed level seven in 2008. She had strong performances at the Winterfest and IGI Chicago Style. Alyssa continued competing level seven in 2009. She finished fourth on floor at the Winter Carnival. She placed third on beam at the Gopher Women's Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed in the top ten all-around.

Alyssa moved up to level eight in 2010. She finished second all-around at the Winter Challenge. She placed fifth all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished third on vault and beam at the Rising Stars Invitational. At the Northern Lights Invitational, she finished second on floor. Alyssa won beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second all-around. Alyssa opened the 2010-2011 season at the Peppermint Twist. She placed third all-around as a level nine.
