Alexandra McCarthy was born on February 24, 1996. She trains at Salto Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2014.
In 2004, Alexandra began competing level five. She placed first on beam and second all-around at the 2005 Salto Invitational. She moved up to level six in the fall. She won bars at the State Championships. Alexandra moved up to level seven in 2006. She finished third on floor at the Salto Invitational. She began competing level eight in 2007. She placed first on floor and third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished third on vault and fourth all-around. Alexandra continued competing level eight in 2008. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the Salto Invitational. She won vault at Regionals.
Alexandra began competing level nine in 2009. She finished first on floor and second all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She won vault and beam at the Wisconsin Dell Vacation Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she placed second all-around. She was the alternate for Westerns. In 2010, Alexandra won vault and floor at the Twistars Invitational. She placed fourth all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She won beam at the Salto Invitational. At the OGC Optional Invitational, she won beam and floor. Alexandra won beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She placed sixth on beam at Westerns.
In 2011, Alexandra moved up to level ten. She finished second on floor at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She won vault at the Harley Davidson Meet. At the Salto Invitational, she won vault and floor. She finished first on vault at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She placed in the top ten at the State Championships. Alexandra finished eleventh all-around at Regionals. She competed at the JO National Invitational Tournament.
