Ashley Miller was born to George and Shirley on August 24, 1984. She has two older brothers, Bradley and Lowell. She began gymnastics in 1989. She competed for North Stars Gymnastics under Tony and Paula Gehman.

In 1996, she competed as a level ten. She qualified to the JO Nationals. She moved up to junior national elite in 1997. She placed fourth all-around at the American Challenge. She also placed fourth at the National Gymnastics Festival. She was named to the US National Team. In 1998, she moved up to junior international elite. She competed at the American Classic and US Classic. After a few years off, she placed eleventh all-around at the US Classic in 2001 as a senior international elite. She took the last spot on the US National Team at the US National Championships.

Ashley went on to compete for the University of Georgia. She was on the All-SEC second team in 2003. She competed in 2004. She went on an injury retirement.
