Adrienne Mills was born in Meridian, Mississippi on September 29, 1987. She is the daughter of Houston and Sonia Mills. She has two younger siblings, Brittany and Houston. She attended Floyd Central High School in Greenville, Indiana. She trained at Southern Indiana Gymnastics School. She began gymnastics at the age of two in 1989 and was a level ten for seven years.
As a club gymnast, Adrienne participated in the TOPs Program. She was on the TOPs National Team in 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. She qualified to TOPs National Testing in 1999, the first year she began competing as a level ten. She qualified to JO Nationals that year as well. Adrienne made her second JO National Championships in 2002. She finished third all-around. She was named to the Region 5 All-Star Team. This was a feat she accomplished in 2003 and 2004 as well.
In 2003, Adrienne won the Level 10 Regional Championships. At JO Nationals, she finished first on beam and fifth all-around! She qualified again in 2004. Adrienne placed in the top ten all-around. At her final JO Nationals in 2005, Adrienne won beam and finished fifth all-around. She received a full scholarship to Auburn University.
As a freshman, she competed on bars and beam throughout the season. She won bars twice against West Virginia and Centenary. Adrienne also competed in the all-around a few times. During her sophomore season, Adrienne competed in the all-around at almost every meet. She won bars, beam, floor and all-around titles. As a junior, she finished fifth all-around at NCAA Regionals. She finished second on bars at Alabama. Adrienne won floor against Michigan. She won the all-around, bars and floor against Illinois. She won floor against Florida and beam against Arkansas. She was on the Academic Honor Roll.
As a senior, she hit every routine except for one. She won fourteen event and all-around titles. She was named to the SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team.
