Abby Stack was born on September 16, 1986. She is the daughter of Paul and Cindy Stack. She trained at International Gymnastics in North Carolina during her club career.
Abby won the level 10 state championships in 1998. In 1999, she finished fourth at Regionals to future Olympic Champion Carly Patterson and national team member Kassi Price. Abby finished third at Regionals in 2000 after winning every event at States. In 2001, she competed level 10. at the State Championships, she won the all-around title. Falls off beam at Regionals kept her out of JO Nationals. Abby qualified to the JO Nationals in 2002 after placing first all-around, first on vault, first on bars and first on floor at Regionals. Abby also won the State all-around title in 2002.
She had another successful year of level 10 in 2003. At the North Carolina State Championships she swept the competition. 2004 was a good year for Abby. She finished first all-around and first on bars at Regionals. Abby competed level 10 again during the 2005 season. She won every event at the North Carolina State Championships. As a freshman at the University of Georgia, she competed on floor as the leadoff competitor in the second half of the season. Abby competed at every meet during the season. As a sophomore she continued competing on floor. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Abby was in the floor lineup for every meet except for one as a junior. She was the leadoff performer at the SEC Championships and NCAA Super Six. She also competed on bars. She again made the SEC Academic Honor Roll. As a senior, she scored a 9.9 at the first meet of the season against West Virginia. At her last home meet she also exhibitoned on bars.
