Devin Daunyale Ave was born on February 19, 1989 in Dallas, Texas. Devin began gymnastics at the age of four after Devin went to a birthday party and loved it. She started at Infinite Bounds in Plano, Texas. Devin spent most of her career training at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy under Valeri Liukin and Natalya Marakova.

Devin began competing as a level 5 in 1998 and moved up to level 6 in 1999. Her gymnastics success began after she qualified to Level 7 Regionals where she placed 12th in all-around and won balance beam. In 2001, Devin moved up to level 19 and finished her season after placing 10th all-around at the State Championships. Devin competed as a level 10 in 2002. After placing 12th all-around at Level 10 State Championships, she moved on to Level 10 Regionals where she placed 7th all-around. She qualified to Junior Olympic Nationals and placed 30th all-around.

Devin tested for elite in June of 2002, where she qualified as junior national elite on her first try. A month later Devin competed in her first elite competition at the 2002 US Challenge, where she placed 14th in the all around! In December of 2003 Devin decided that she would like to try new things, and quit the sport of gymnastics. After some time off Devin decided to start working out again, so that she could stay in shape, with one work out a day. By the summer of 2005 Devin was back up to two a day work outs and preparing to go back in to competition. Devin now has her eyes set on a college scholarship. Devin finished 5th all-around at the Level 10 State Championships,. She also became the state floor champion. At the Level 10 Regionals, she placed 4th all-around and 1st on uneven bars. This performance qualified her to Junior Olympic National which were held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She finished her season by placing 8th all-around and 3rd on balance beam at JO Nationals. She decided to retire from gymnastics after this meet.

She began attending Texas State University in the fall of 2007. Devin participated in club gymnastics. She placed seventh all-around at the 2009 NAIGC Championships. She tied for first on uneven bars.
