Shelbee Avelino was born on August 24, 1999. She trained at Central Coast Gymnastics through the 2009 season. She then moved to Airborne.
In 2006, Shelbee competed level five. She won bars and the all-around at the Raisin Festival. She finished third all-around at the Gym Fest. At the Jack-o-Lantern Jamboree, she won bars, floor and the all-around. Shelbee finished in the top ten at the State Championships. Shelbee moved up to level six in 2007. She placed second all-around at the Judges Cup. At the Begonia Gym Fest, she won floor and the all-around. Shelbee finished third all-around at the SLO Gymfest. At the Zone Championships, she finished fourth all-around. She finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships.
Shelbee continued competing level six in 2008. She won beam at the Mikhail's Navy meet. At the Zone Championships, she won bars and the all-around. Shelbee finished first on beam and the all-around at the State Championships! Shelbee also made the National TOPs "B" Team that fall. She moved up to level seven in 2009. She finished first on vault, floor and the all-around at the Winter Invitational. She placed first all-around at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At the State Championships, she won the all-around title. In the fall, she made her second National TOPs "B" Team.
In 2010, Shelbee competed level eight. She finished second on floor at the Wine Country Classic. Shelbee won floor at the AOGC Invitational. She won beam and floor at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At the State Championships, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around! Shelbee placed first on beam and second on floor at Regionals. She finished fifth all-around. Shelbee moved up to level nine in 2011. She won beam at the Gliders Invitational.
