Kathryn Bagby was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 11, 1995. She currently resides in Columbus, Ohio. She began gymnastics at the age of three at Buckeye Gymnastics. She competed levels four thru nine with Midwest Gymnastics & Cheer and Buckeye Gymnastics from 2001 to 2006. During those years, Kathryn was a three-time National Tops Team Member. In the summer of 2006, Kathryn returned to Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy as a level 9 where she briefly trained during 2003 as a level 5. She moved back to Buckeye after the 2008 season. She moved to Arizona in the summer of 2009.

In 2002, she competed as a level four. She won floor at the Region 5 Cup. She competed as a level five in 2004. She won the Buckeye Classic. At States, she finished second all-around. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall. She competed to level seven in 2005. She won beam and floor at the Buckeye Classic. Kathryn finished fourth all-around at the Fiesta Bowl. At States, she finished second all-around. She won beam, floor and vault. She made the National TOPs Team again.

Kathryn advanced to level nine in 2006. She placed second on floor at the Buckeye Classic. She qualified to hopes. She competed at the US Challenge. Kathryn competed level nine again in 2007. She won beam at the IGI Chicago Style. At States, she finished fourth all-around. Kathryn qualified to Easterns at Regionals as a member of the Region 5 Team. At Easterns, she won a bronze medal on floor. She finished third on floor at the US Challenge in 2007.

She competed another year of level nine in 2008. She won bars and beam at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She won vault, bars and the all-around at Regionals. She placed second on floor. At the Eastern Championships, she finished tenth all-around. She won uneven bars. At the May Elite Qualifier, she qualified for junior international elite. She was pulled from the US Classic. She moved up to level ten in 2009. She competed on bars and beam at the Buckeye Classic. At the Arena Classic, she competed in the all-around. She finished ninth all-around at Regionals. Kathryn qualified to junior pre-elite following the level ten season.
