Mary Kaitlyn Bailey was born on July 4, 1995. She trained at C&B Flip Force through the 2006 season. She then spent two years with Cabarrus County. Katie has been training with High Point since the summer of 2008. She will graduate from high school in 2013.

In 2003, Katie competed level five. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Fall Frolic meet. She finished eleventh all-around at the State Championships. Katie finished in the top ten at the Sweetheart Invitational as a level seven in 2005. In the fall, she made the National TOPs Team. She competed level eight in 2006. She won bars, floor and the all-around at the Twin City Classic. Katie also made her second National TOPs Team. Katie moved up to level nine in 2007. She finished second on bars at the Sand Dollar Invitational. Katie placed seventh all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she competed on beam and floor.

Katie moved up to level ten in 2008. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, she finished fourth all-around and second on bars. Katie qualified to junior pre-elite. She competed at the US Challenge where she placed fifth all-around. In 2009, Katie finished first on bars and the all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. At the Charleston Cup, she placed second all-around. She also finished second at the National Gymnastics Challenge. Katie won bars and placed second all-around at the State Championships. She finished eighth at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished twelfth all-around. She also placed seventh on floor and tenth on bars.

She continued competing level ten in 2010. She won vault at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. Katie placed second at the Excalibur Cup. At the Spring Break-Out, she won five gold medals. Katie finished first on vault and third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, Katie won vault and bars. She placed fifth all-around. She ended her season at JO Nationals, placing sixth on beam and eighth on floor. She opened the 2011 season at the Flip Fest Invitational, winning the all-around title. She qualified to the Nastia Liukin Cup! At the Tiger Paw Classic, Katie finished first all-around. She won bars and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At Regionals, Katie placed first on vault, bars and the all-around. She concluded her season at JO Nationals, where she won the all-around title! Katie also placed second on vault, fifth on bars and first on floor.

In 2012, Katie won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Ozone Invitational. She placed first on vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Parkette Invitational. Katie won all five gold medals at the Greensboro Invitational. At the Excalibur Cup, she won vault. Katie finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She scored a career high, 39.000, in the all-around.
