Kennedy Baker was born on May 10, 1996. She trained at River City Gymnastics until the fall of 2005. She then switched to Gymstars in Memphis. Kennedy moved to Texas Dreams after the 2007 season.

In 2004, Kennedy competed as a level six at the Bama Rama meet. The meet took place in September. She finished third all-around and won bars. She also made the Diamond National TOPs Team that fall. She moved up to level seven for the spring season in 2005. She finished third all-around and third on bars at the State Championships. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall.

Kennedy competed a few meets as a level eight in the beginning of 2006. She then moved up to level nine. She finished second all-around at States. She won bars and floor. At Regionals, she finished seventh all-around. This qualified her for Level 9 Easterns. Kennedy finished in the top ten on floor. She qualified to hopes pre-elite. She competed at the US Challenge in the summer. Kennedy made her third TOPs National Team in the fall.

She moved up to level ten in 2007. She won the State Championships. Besides the all-around, she won bars and beam. She competed as a hopes pre-elite again. She finished eighth all-around at the US Challenge in July. With Texas Dreams, she qualified to the TOPS National Team for the fourth time in the fall. In 2008, she qualified to junior international elite. She won the Parkette Invitational Elite Qualifier! She spent the rest of the year injured.

Kennedy came back in early June of 2009 to earn her international elite compulsory score at the Region 3 Elite Qualifier. A week later, she qualified to international elite in the optional portion at the Parkette Elite Qualifier. She improved her score on the way to second place at the July National Elite Qualifier. Kennedy placed seventh all-around at the US Classic. She finished third on balance beam. At the US National Championships, she finished eleventh all-around, narrowly missing the US National Team. She won the uneven bars title. In 2010, Kennedy finished sixth on beam at the Visa Championships. She made the US National Team. In 2011, Kennedy finished fifth on beam and eighth all-around at the CoverGirl Classic. She placed third on bars and seventh all-around at the Visa Championships. She made her second US National Team.
