Therese Banks was born on August 11, 1995. She trained at Brestyan's Gymnastics through the 2007 season. After moving to New York, she began training at Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy. Therese began competing for Rochester Gymnastics Academy during the middle of the 2010 season. She will graduate from high school in 2013.

In 2005, Therese won vault, bars and the all-around at the Sectional meet. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the State Championships. Therese qualified to the National TOPs "B" Team in the fall. She moved up to level eight in 2006. She won vault at Regionals. She placed fourth all-around. In 2007, Therese competed level nine. She placed third on beam at the Brestyan's Invitational. She finished third all-around at Regionals. She placed second on vault and beam. At Easterns, Therese finished ninth on vault and 21st all-around.

Therese competed level nine in 2009. She placed second on vault at the Palm Beach Invitational. She also finished second on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault. Therese began competing level ten in 2010. She won vault at the Winter Graffiti Invitational. She finished second on vault at the I Love NY Cup and Buckeye Classic. At Regionals, Therese finished second on bars and third all-around. She competed at JO Nationals.
