Valentina Barbalinardo was born on June 6, 1996. She trained at Tri-Valley Gymnastics until the spring of 2006. She then moved to Gymfinity. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2005, Valentina competed level five. She placed third on vault and sixth all-around at the Zone Championships. She did not compete all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2006. She placed third all-around at the Tumble in the Jungle Meet. She won uneven bars. Valentina also won bars at the Mikhail's Navy Meet. She won bars and the all-around at the Meet by The Bay. At the It's A Small World meet, Valentina won bars and the all-around. She placed in the top ten at the Zone Championships. She finished fifth all-around at the State Championships.

Valentina immediately began competing level seven in 2007. She finished second all-around at the International Cup. She won bars at the Golden Bear Invitational. Valentina also won bars at the Very Merry Unbirthday meet. She finished in the top ten at the State Championships. In December, she qualified for the NorCal Level 7 Judges Cup Team. At the National Judges Cup, she won vault and floor in 2008. She competed level eight the rest of the season. She won the all-around title at the Black Tie Invitational. Valentina finished second all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational. She won the all-around at both the Spirit of the Flame Challenge and Very Merry Unbirthday meet. At the State Championships, she placed second on beam and fifth all-around. Valentina finished in the top fifteen at Regionals.

She swept the gold medals at the Very Merry Unbirthday meet in 2009 as a level eight. She then moved up to level nine. She won vault, beam and the all-around at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. Valentina finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She placed fourth on beam at Regionals. In 2010, Valentina finished second on beam at the Lady Luck Invitational. She won vault and the all-around at the Spring Roundup. Valentina placed in the top ten at the State Championships. She placed third all-around at Regionals. She competed at the Level 9 Western Championships, placing fifth on bars and 13th all-around.
