Alyssa Baumann was born on May 17, 1998. Her sister Rachel is also a gymnast. They both train at WOGA. She will graduate from high school in 2016.
Alyssa began competing in the fall of 2004 as a level four. She moved up to level five in the fall of 2005. She won vault and bars at the Rising Stars meet. She placed in the top fifteen at the District Championships. She qualified for the State Championships in the silver division. Alyssa won a bronze medal on vault. She continued competing level five in the fall of 2006. She placed second all-around at the District Championships. At the North State meet, she won floor and finished thrid all-around. She competed level six in the spring of 2007. Alyssa won floor at the WOGA Classic.
She moved up to level seven for the 2008 season. Alyssa placed first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the WOGA Classic. At the AOGC Invitational, she finished second on beam. Alyssa ended her season by finishing fifth all-around at the State Championships. She won a silver medal on bars. In 2009, Alyssa competed level eight. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. At the WOGA Classic, she won vault, beam and the all-around. Alyssa finished first on floor at the Great West Gymfest. She also competed on floor in the Big Show, winning again. At the Rose City Classic, she won vault, floor and the all-around. At States, Alyssa took first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She ended her season by winning beam, floor and the all-around at Regionals.
In 2010, Alyssa competed level ten. She won vault and finished second all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. She also earned her international elite compulsory score at this meet. At the WOGA Classic, she won vault and beam. Alyssa won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. She swept the gold medals at the Houston National Invitational. Alyssa did not compete at States. She came back to win bars, beam, floor and the all-around at Regionals. She ended her level nine season by winning bars, beam and the all-around at Westerns. In July, she qualified to junior international elite and the Visa Championships at the National Elite Qualifier. She competed on bars and beam. Alyssa competed at the Visa Championships in August. In late December, she traveled to Russia where she competed in the Voronin Cup. She finished fifth all-around.
