Amber Berry was born on December 21, 1990. Amber is the daughter of Carl and Paula. She has a brother named Brandon. She trained at Cypress Academy of Gymnastics during her club career. She began gymnastics in 1996 with a recreational program and then moved to a beginning competitive program.

In 2002, she competed as a level eight. She qualified to Regionals. In 2003, Amber moved up to level nine. She won the WOGA Classic. At Regionals Amber finished seventh all-around. At Westerns, Amber placed second all-around. She finished second on floor and third on beam! Amber moved up to level ten in 2004. She finished eighth all-around at Regionals, qualifying to the JO National Championships. She finished fifth on beam. In 2005, Amber qualified to the Regional Championships.
