Amanda Jean Bertorello was born on September 27, 1997. She began gymnastics at the age of four. She trained at Starlight Gymnastics until her family moved. She began training at LaFleur's Gymnastics in 2008. She moved to Jacksonville Academy of Gymnastics.

Amanda competed level four in 2004. She competed at States. She competed at the JAX Winter Classic as a level six in 2006. She made the National TOPs "B" Team that year. She began competing level seven in 2007. She finished fourth all-around at the Atlanta Crown meet. She won vault and placed second on bars. At the Buckeye Classic, she finished third on vault and fourth all-around. She won bars. She finished third on floor and in the all-around at the Go For It Classic. She won bars. At the Daytona Beach Open, Amanda won vault, bars, floor and the all-around! She ended her season at States. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around! She placed second on floor. In the fall, she qualified for the National TOPs Team.

She moved up to level eight in 2008. She won uneven bars and placed third all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the WOGA Classic, she placed fourth all-around. She won uneven bars. She finished first on vault and in the all-around at the Mardi Gras Invitational. She finished third on beam. Amanda won bars and the all-around at the Tampa Bay Classic. She placed second on vault and beam. She was a "Team Florida" Qualifier for level eight. She was invited to a National Training Camp.

Amanda began competing level nine in 2009. She competed at the Hilton Head Island Invitational and California Classic. At the Daytona Beach Open, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She placed second on beam. At States, she finished third on bars and fourth on floor. She placed sixth all-around. Amanda finished tenth all-around at Regionals. Amanda also began competing as a hopes elite. She earned her optional score at the Denver Winterfest. She won compulsory bars, her only event, at the Palm Beach Invitational. At the US Challenge, she finished fifth on bars. In 2010, Amanda competed level ten. She finished second on bars at the Atlatna Centennial Classic. At the Tim Rand Invitaitonal, she placed thid all-around. Amanda finished second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished seventh all-around. Amanda competed at JO Nationals. In 2011, Amanda competed at the Gasparilla Classic and Tim Rand Invitational.
