Rebecca Best was born on March 7, 1989. She is the daughter of Al and Camelia Best. Rebecca graduated from Williamstown High School in 2007. She competed Starbound Gymnastics until the 2005 season. She then switched to Will-Moor Gymnastics.

As a level five in 1999, she won the all-around state title. By 2001, she was a level eight. Rebecca finished second all-around and 3rd on vault at Level 8 State Championships. She qualified to Level 8 Regionals. In 2002, Rebecca competed as a level nine. Rebecca won the floor exercise title at the Level 9 Regionals. Rebecca competed as a level ten in 2004. She made it to Level 10 Regionals after winning the floor title at States. At Regionals, she finished fourth on vault.

With her new gym in 2005, Rebecca improved greatly. Rebecca won the all-around title, uneven bars and balance beam titles at the New Jersey State Championships. She competed at Junior Olympic Nationals after placing 8th all-around at Level 10 Regionals. In 2006, she won every event at Level 10 States except for uneven bars. She repeated this at Regionals where she placed 1st all-around. Her final meet of the season was at Junior Olympic Nationals. She placed seventh on uneven bars.

In 2007, Rebecca competed her final year as a club gymnast. She finished first all-around at States! Rebecca also won floor and bars. At Regionals, she won every event except for beam, where she was second. Rebeca finished her season at the JO National Championships. She scored the highest all-around total out of every age group! She won the all-around, vault, floor, and beam titles! She was third on bars.

As a freshman at Ohio State, she was the alternate for NCAA Nationals. She won the all-around three times. She competed on vault, beam and floor at every meet. She received All-Big Ten second-team honors. During her sophomore season, she qualified for the NCAA National Championships after earning a career-high at NCAA Regionals. She finished second at the Regional Meet. She earned her second consecutive All-Big Ten honor.
