Kristin Blades was born on February 19, 1992. She trained at Capital Gymnastics through the 2005 season. She then moved to Apollo Gymnastics. She graduated from high school in 2010.
In 2004, Kristin competed level eight. She finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. She finished tenth all-around at Regionals. Kristin moved up to level nine in 2005. She placed third all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She won beam at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. In 2006, Kristin finished in the top ten at the State Championships. She competed on three events at Regionals. Kristin competed level ten in 2009. She finished in the top fifteen at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on vault and tenth all-around. She won vault and beam at the JO National Invitational Tournament. In 2010, Kristin finished first on vault at the Cancun Classic. She won vault at the Rock n Roll Invitational. She placed third on vault at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.
As a freshman at Penn State in 2011, Kristin competed on vault in every meet except for one.
