Brittnee Martinez was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 4, 1990. She began gymnastics at the age of six at National Gymnastics Village. In 2006 she moved to Tom and Lori Forsters Aerials Gymnastics Center in Colorado Springs where she competed level ten.
Brittnee progressed though the years and experienced success at every level along the way starting with the participation in the TOPS program. In 2002 as a level 7, she won the State all-around title and helped her level 7 team win the Colorado Level 7 State Championship and set a new record for team high score. She moved up to level 8 in 2003 qualifying to Region 3 Regionals where she placed fourth on vault and fifth on beam. In 2004, as a level 9 she placed 14th in the all-around at Regionals and qualified to Western Nationals. A repeat season at level 9 garnered greater success and provided the spark for today's accomplishments. The year was 2005, starting with the participation in two elite qualifier meets and qualifying as pre-elite in both meets. At the level 9 State and Regional Championships she won the all-around title in both and at Western Nationals, she placed second on bars and seventh all-around.
In July 2005, Brittnee moved up to level ten. After a fall while training, a MRI showed a stress fracture in her lower back. She didn’t compete in 2006. After five months of limited gym activity and a move to her new gym, she was gradually brought back to 100% under the watchful eye of the Aerials coaching staff. In 2007, competing in her first level ten season, she placed first all-around at the Paige Smith Winterfest, second all-around at the Great West Gym Fest and was event finals champion on bars and beam. At Region 3 Regionals she placed second on Beam, seventh all-around and qualified to the JO Nationals where she placed tenth in the all-around with a pair of sixth place finishes on bars and beam.
In 2008, she began her season with promise. At the Paige Smith Winterfest in Denver, she placed second all-around. Brittnee battled a bone bruise on her heel most of the year but still placed first on Bars at the Battle of Seattle. At the State Championships she placed second on bars and third all-around. At Regionals, she placed first on Beam, second on Bars and third all-around and qualified to her second JO Nationals. At Nationals, she placed 4th on Bars and fifth all-around. Brittnee competed for her High School her senior year where she helped them to a third place finish, the highest in school history, by capturing the State HS vault, bars and all-around titles. This earned her Rocky Mountain News, Denver Post and Gazette All-Colorado gymnast of the year honors and 2008 Sportswomen of Colorado prep gymnast of the year recipient.
Brittnee’s third year competing level ten was in 2009. She continued to be successful as she place second all-around at Pikes Peak Cup with a pair of first place finishes on bars and floor. Minor injuries keep her from competing all events most of the season but she was able to capture second place on floor at the Metroplex Challenge in Dallas and a second place finish on bars at the Palm Beach Invite in West Palm Beach. The State Championships was her first meet back competing the all-around where she place 1st all-around. At Regionals, she placed first on bars, second on floor and third all-around. She finished off her JO career at Nationals with a first place finish on bars, a third place finish on beam, placing fourth all-around, making the JO National team. Brittnee is now looking forward to beginning her college career at the University of Michigan.
