Audrey Bowers was born to Bob and Nina on November 10, 1985. She began gymnastics at the age of five in 1990 because of her older sister, Adrienne. She trained at Gwinnett Gymnastics in Georgia for fourteen years.
In 1997, Audrey competed as a level ten. She qualified to the JO National Championships. She qualified again in 1998. She finished seventh all-around and second on floor. In 1999, Audrey finished second on beam at JO Nationals. In 2000, she finished fifth all-around and first on beam. In 2001, she placed fourth all-around and third on beam. She finished third all-around and first on beam at the JO National Championships in 2002.
As a freshman at the University of Georgia, she competed on bars and beam. She missed several meets because of a sprained ankle. Audrey was the first Georgia freshman since 2001 to compete all-around in their first collegiate meet. In 2006, she was on the SEC Honor Roll. She competed beam at the NCAA Championships. Audrey also competed on floor. A wrist injury caused her to miss the 2007 season. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She was also named an NACGC Academic All-Americans. She repeated these feats in 2008.
