Maria Braune was on August 24, 1991. She trained at Hill's Gymnastics through the 2006 season. She then moved to Frederick Gymnastics. She graduated from high school in 2009.

In 2001, Maria competed level six. She finished third on bars at the State Championships. She competed level seven in 2002. She placed third all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2003. She finished third on floor at the State Championships. Maria finished fourth all-around at the State Championships in 2004. At Regionals, she placed sixth on bars. She began competing level nine in 2005. She continued competing level nine in 2006. She finished ninth all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she placed fifth on floor.

Maria competed a final year of level nine in 2007. She finished second on floor at both the State and Regional Championships. She finished 27th all-around at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2008. She finished third on beam at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. in 2009, Maria finished in the top ten at both the Frederick Classic and Manhattan Classic. She placed sixth all-around at the State Championships. She finished 15th all-around at Regionals.
