Alexis Brawner was born on September 14, 1996. She trained at Winstars in Canada until 2006. She then moved to Rose City Gymnastics. After the 2008 season, Alexis began training in Michigan at Cutting Edge Gymnastics. She followed her coach, Shannon Hunt, to Hunt's Gymnastics following the 2010 season. Alexis will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2008, Alexis competed level seven at the Buckeye Classic. She won bars and placed second all-around. Alexis competed level eight in 2009. She won vault and the all-around at the Twistars Invitational. Alexis finished first on vault and third all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Gasparilla Classic, she won all five gold medals. Alexis placed first on vault, bars and the all-around at the Wolverine Classic. She won floor and the all-around at the Motown Madness meet. At the State Championships, Alexis finished first on vault and second all-around. At Regionals, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around.

Alexis moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished second all-around and first on beam at the Twistars Invitational. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Tulip City Invitational. At the Circle of the Stars meet, she won all five titles. Alexis won vault and the all-around at the Wolverine Classic. At the State Championships, she placed second all-around. Alexis finished first on vault and the all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, she won vault and floor! She finished second all-around.
