Lia Breeden was born on December 17, 1995. She trained at Skyline Gymnastics through the 2005 season. She then moved to Artistic Sports Academy Plus. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2005, Lia competed level six. She won vault and placed second all-around at the State Championships. She competed level seven in 2006. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Dutch Classic. Lia competed level eight in 2007. She placed first on vault at the Buckeye Classic. She moved up to level nine in 2008. She finished second on vault and fourth all-around at the State Championships. Lia competed as a level ten for most of the invitational season in 2009. She finished third on beam at both the Nittany Invitational and Parkette Invitational. She placed third all-around at the John Pancott Invitational. She competed at the State Championships as a level nine. She placed third on beam at Regionals.

Lia returned to level ten in 2010. She finished second all-around at the John Pancott Invitational. She also placed second all-around at the Red Rose Invitational. She did not compete on beam at the State Championships. She finished fourth on floor at Regionals. In 2011, Lia won vault and floor at the Parkette Invitational. She placed second on beam at the Pink Invitational. She competed on vault and floor at the State Championships. She finished in the top twenty all-around at Regionals.
