Laura Broten was born on May 9, 1998. Laura trains at Rising Stars Gymnastics Academy in Minnesota. Laura will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2006, Laura competed level five. She competed at the State Championships. Laura competed level six in the fall of 2007. She finished sixth all-around at the State Championships. She competed level seven in 2008. She won floor at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2009. She finished tenth all-around at the Chow's Rising Stars Challenge. She placed second on floor at the Northern Lights Classic. Laura finished in the top fifteen all-around at Regionals.

Laura moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished first on floor at the Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic. She won vault and beam at the Rising Stars Invitational. In 2011, Laura finished first on vault at the Winterfest. She won vault and beam at the Winter Challenge. At the Magical Classic, she placed first on vault. Laura won vault, floor and the all-around at the Rising Stars Invitational. She placed second on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on vault, second on floor and fifth all-around. She competed at Westerns.
