Regan Butchness was born on July 23, 1996. She trained at Crystal Lake Gymnastics. She began training at Legacy Elite Gymnastics in the summer of 2010. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2007, Regan competed level six. She moved up to level seven in 2008. She won beam at the Bravo Classic. She competed level eight in 2009. She finished second on bars at the Bravo Classic. She finished second on beam at the IGI Chicago Style. She placed in the top ten at the Hardrock Invitational. Regan finished in the top ten all-around at Regionals.

Regan began competing level nine in 2010. She won bars at the Battle of Champions. She placed second on beam at the Bravo Classic. Regan won bars, beam and the all-around at the Vegas Cup. She finished second all-around at the Harley Davidson meet. She competed at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on bars and beam. In 2011, Regan finished third on bars at the Bravo Classic. She placed second on beam at the IGI Chicago Style. At the WOGA Classic, she placed second on bars and beam. Regan won beam and placed second all-around at the Arena Classic. At Regionals, she placed fifth all-around. She finished second on beam. She placed seventh all-around at Easterns. She placed fourth on beam.
