Carol Byrnes was born on June 9, 1994 and resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She trained at Girls Co-Op where she was coached by Sandy Greiner. Carol was a National TOPS Team Member between 2003 and 2005.

In 2002, Carol was a member of the Diamond National Team. She competed as a level 7 in 2004 and moved up to level 8 later in the season. Carol placed second all-around and is a champion on uneven bars and floor exercise at annual's Friendship Classic. Carol placed third on floor exercise at Level 8 Regional Championships. Carol competed as a level 9, Child Pre-Elite, and TOPS Elite in 2005. At the beginning of the season in 2005, she won the American Challenge as a TOPS Elite. At the US Challenge, she competed as a Child Pre-Elite. In 2006, Carol has competed in many meets as a level 9 and level 10. She earned a bronze medal on floor exercise at Friendship Classic. At the end of 2006, Carol placed second overall at US Challenge (HOPES) in Kansas City, Missouri.

In 2007, Rebecca competed at the Friendship Classic as a junior international elite. She won a bronze medal in the all-around! Carol also won a silver medal on beam and a bronze medal on floor. She competed at the American Challenge as a junior pre-elite. At that meet, she received her international score! Carol competed as a junior international elite at the US Classic. She has now retired from gymnastics and participates in diving.
