Alexa Calandra was born on November 24, 1998. She trains at Galaxy Gymnastics in New York. She will graduate from high school in 2016.

In 2009, Alexa competed level eight. She finished first on floor at the Team Challenge. She placed third on floor and fourth all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. Alexa moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished fourth all-around at the East Coast Classic. At Regionals, she finished third on bars. Alexa moved up to level ten in 2011. She finished in the top ten all-around at both the Presidential Classic and Niagara Cup. At the State Championships, she placed third on bars, second on floor and fourth all-around. Alexa finished third on floor at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.
