Opua Calucag was born on April 26, 1994. Opua trained at Shooting Stars Gymnastics in 2002. She moved to Payke Alhambra for the 2003 season. Opua trained at Charter Oak Gliders from 2005 until the fall of 2009. She then moved to West Coast Elite. Opua will graduate from high school in the spring of 2012.
In 2002, Opua competed level five. She finished third on vault at States. She moved up to level six in 2003. She qualified for State. In 2005, Opua continued competing level six. She won a silver medal on beam at the AOGC Invitational. In 2006, Opua moved up to level seven. She won floor and the all-around at the Flips Invitational. At the San Diego Classic, she placed second on floor. Opua finished third all-around at the California Classic. At State, she finished fifth all-around and second on beam. She moved up to level eight in 2007. Opua finished third all-around at the Long Beach Open and fourth at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. At the State Championships, she placed fourth all-around. Opua ended her season with a fourth place finish at Regionals. She won bars and beam.
Afer not competing in 2008, Opua returned to compete level eight in 2009. She finished second all-around and first on bars at the San Diego Classic. She won bars, beam floor and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. Opua swept the gold medals at the Glider Invitational. At State, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. She ended her season by winning bars, floor and the all-around at Regionals. She had a great 2010 season as a level nine. Opua won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the California Classic. At the Malibu Coast Challenge, she placed second all-around. Opua won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at States. She also won beam and the all-around at Regionals. Opua ended her season by winning floor and finishing second on beam at Westerns.
Opua began competing level ten in 2011. She finished second on floor at the San Diego Classic. She also placed second on floor at the Byers Invitational. She finished sixth all-around at Regionals. Opua comepted at JO Nationals.
