Stephani Canizaro was born on July 2, 1993. Stephani began gymnastics at the age of ten. She competed as a compulsory gymnast for Mississippi Elite Gymnastics in Horn Lake, Mississippi. She moved to Gymstars in 2006. She is coached by Gene and Donna Alexin.
In 2004, Stephanie competed level six and level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished second on vault at States. Stephanie had a great 2006 season as a level nine. She won bars and floor at Sand Dollar. She also finished third all-around. At States, Stephani won the all-around, vault, bars and floor titles! Her next meet was Regionals. Stephani finished third all-around! Her final level nine meet was Easterns. Stephani had a great meet. She won a bronze medal in the all-around. She also won the bars title. After the level nine season, Stephani competed as a junior pre-elite at the US Challenge.
She moved up to level ten in 2007. She won the level ten State all-around and floor title. At Regionals, Stephani finished fifth all-around. This qualified her for JO Nationals. After JO Nationals, she competed at the US Challenge. She finished in the top ten. In 2009, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at States. She qualified for JO Nationals by placing in the top seven at Regionals. She finished in the top 25 at JO Nationals. Following the season, Stefani committed to the University of Arkansas.
In 2010, Stephanie won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. By winning this meet, she qualified for the Nastia Liukin Cup. At the GymQuarters Invitational, she placed in the top ten. Stephani had a strong meet at the Nastia Liukin Cup, placing in the top ten on vault. At the State Championships, she swept the gold medals. At Regionals, she finished first on bars, floor and the all-around with a career high 38.425. At JO Nationals, Stephani placed in the top ten on floor.
