Misty-Jade Carlson was born on April 15, 1997. She trained at Naydenov Gymnastics through the 2004 season. She then moved to Metro Gymnastics through the 2008 season. After moving to Washington, she began training at Auburn Gymnastics Center. She left Auburn in April of 2011, returning to Oregon. Misty-Jade is now training at the National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics. Misty-Jade will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2004, Misty-Jade competed level four. She finished sixth all-around at the Pajama Classic. She competed level five in 2006. She won vault at the Hard Rock Invitational. Misty-Jade competed level six in the fall. She qualified to the State Championships. In the spring, she won bars, floor and the all-around at the Emerald Team Challenge. Misty-Jade competed level seven in 2008. She finished second all-around at the Seattle Open. She won all five gold medals at the Surf City Classic. She won beam and the all-around at the Emerald Team Challenge. At the State Championships, she won all five events.
Misty-Jade competed level eight in 2009. She finished third all-around at the Crystal Cup. She placed first on vault, beam and the all-around at the MAC Open. She won floor at the Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed second on vault and third on bars. At Regionals, she finished fourth on vault and bars. In 2010, Misty-Jade moved up to level nine. She finished second on vault at the National Judges Cup. She won bars at both the All American Invitational and Long Beach Open. She placed in the top ten at the State Championships. She won vault and beam at Regionals. She finished second all-around. Misty-Jade placed third all-around at Westerns! In 2011, MIsty-Jade won vault and floor at the Battle in Seattle. She finished first on bars at the Crystal Cup. At the MAC Open, she won vault, beam and the all-around. Misty-Jade finished second all-around at the byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she won bars and the all-around. Misty-Jade won the all-around title at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed first on vault, fifth on bars, seventh on beam and third all-around.
In addition to being a competing gymnastics, she has been participating in baton twirling since the age of four. She attends baton competitions when they don't conflict with gym meets. She has won the Oregon State Jr. Championsips in Solo, Strut and Dance-Twirl several times as well as many Western Regional and National age group titles. She has been a national juvenile finalist every year that she has competed at nationals. Her favorite event is strut since it stresses body technique and she gets to use more of her gymnastic skills. Misty-Jade is a member of Syndication Baton Club in California. She is coached by Sandi Rios as well as her mother, Pauline Carlson.
