Amanda Carpenter was born on March 9, 1992. She trains at Prestige Gymnastics.
In 2000, Amanda competed as a level seven. She finished seventh all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2001. She competed at States. In 2002, Amanda advanced to level nine. She finished seventh all-around. At Regionals, she won the all-around title! Her final meet of the season was Easterns, the highest competition a level nine can attend. She continued competing level nine in 2003. She finished second all-around at the Desert Devils Classic. At States, she won the floor and all-around titles. She then placed third all-around at Regionals with a second place finish on floor. Amanda finished her season by placing in the top fifteen at Easterns.
Amanda made it to level ten in 2004. She finished second all-around at the Parkette Invitational. She won the Katie Baldwin Invitational. At the Level 10 State Championships, Amanda finished second all-around. She then placed second at Regionals. Her final meet of the season was the JO National Championships. Amanda continued competing as a level ten in 2005. She finished second all-around at the Katie Baldwin Invitational. She won the Level 10 State all-around title. At Regionals, she qualified to her second JO National Championships. Amanda placed in the top fifteen. 2006 was her third year as a level ten. She finished third all-around at the Katie Baldwin Invitational. She competed at States and Regionals. Amanda competed as a junior pre-elite at the US Challenge. In 2007, Amanda won the Buckeye Classic, Katie Baldwin Invitational and the Sand Dollar Invitational! She then finished second all-around at the Level 10 State Championships.
She won bars and the all-around at the 2008 Buckeye Classic. At the State meet, she won bars and the all-around. She finished third on beam and floor. In 2009, she competed at the Parkettes Invitational. She won bars and placed third all-around at the Buckeye Classic. At the San Diego Classic, she finished third on bars. She won beam. At States, she finished third on vault and floor. She placed second on beam and in the all-around. She signed with West Virginia University in the fall of 2009.
