Lauryn Carr was born on July 18, 1989. She is the daughter of John and Jacki Carr. She has three siblings; Preston, Lynsey and Sydney Carr. Lauryn graduated from Mason High School in 2007. She trained at Queen City Gymnastics during her club career.

In 2002, Lauryn competed as a level seven. She finished third all-around at States. She moved up to level eight in 2003. Lauryn placed second all-around at States. She won bars and beam. She placed in the top ten on beam at Regionals. Lauryn moved up to level nine in 2004. She competed at States and Regionals. In 2005, Lauryn won bars at the Coaches Cup as a level nine.

Lauryn moved up to level ten in 2006. She qualified to Regionals in 2006 and 2007. She began competing for Bowling Green in 2008. She competed on vault in the last three meets.
