Carol Chang was born on November 11, 1990. She trained at Airborne Gymnastics in Santa Clara, California during her club career. She graduated from Homestead High School in 2009.
In 2002, she competed as a level nine. She finished second all-around at States. At Regionals, she qualified for Westerns. Carol finished in the top twenty-five at Westerns. She continued competing as a level nine in 2003. She finished fourth all-around at States. She won bars and placed second on floor. She then competed at Regionals. Carol placed third all-around and first on floor! Her final level nine meet was Westerns. She finished twelfth all-around. She was third on beam and sixth on floor.
Carol moved up to level ten in 2004. She won the Far West Invitational. At the Desert Devils Classic, Carol placed fourth all-around. At States, she finished second all-around and first on floor. She then won the Regional all-around title! Carol also won beam at Regionals. She ended her level ten season at JO Nationals. She placed in the top twenty with a fifth place finish on beam. She also competed as a junior pre-elite at the US Challenge in late May.
She continued competing as a level ten in 2005. She finished third all-around at States. Carol won the floor title. At Regionals, she just missed qualifying for the JO National Championships with an eighth place finish. She did win a silver medal on floor. In 2006, Carol placed third all-around at States. She won floor and finished second on beam. At Regionals, Carol placed eleventh all-around.
In 2007, Carol finished second all-around at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At States, she finished second on beam and fourth on vault. Carol placed fifth all-around at Regionals! She qualified for the JO National Championships. At JO Nationals, she finished in the top twenty-five. In 2008, she competed all-around at the Seattle Open. She finished third on vault at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She did not compete on floor.
She had a good season to conclude her JO career in 2009. She started the season with a fifth place finish on beam at the Tachi Palace Invitational. She next finished second on beam at the Long Beach Open. She finished third on beam and in the all-around at the Byers Invitational. Carol finished in the top ten at States. At Regionals, she finished third on beam and eighth all-around. She finished her season at JO Nationals. She will attend UC Berkeley.
