Bethany Chapin was born on June 19, 1989. She trains at Gymnastics East in Washington. She began training there for the 2006 season. Before Gymnastics East, Bethany competed for Northwest Aerials.

In 2001, she competed as a level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2002. She finished third on vault at Regionals. Bethany competed level nine in 2003 and 2004. She finished fourth on beam and sixth all-around at the Level 9 State Championships in 2004. In 2005, Bethany moved up to level ten. She placed fourth all-around at States. She was fourth on bars and Regionals. Bethany only competed in the beginning of 2006. She retired from gymnastics following this season. After graduating from Inglemoor High School in 2007, she began attending San Diego State University.
