Jillian Chappel was born on October 6, 1994. Jillian trained at Orlando Metro Gymnastics in 2003. When her family moved to Virginia, she began training at Capital Gymnastics in Burke, Virginia until the fall of 2006. She then switched to Powerhouse Gymnastics in Florida where she trained for the next two seasons. She competed for Palm Coast Gymnastics in 2009. Currently, Jillian trains at ACE Gymnastics.
The rise through the junior olympic program was rapid for this young lady. She competed level five in the fall of 2003. At the 2004 October Fest she competed as a level six. Jillian won four gold medals at this event. A month later, she competed level seven at the Black Eyed Susan meet in Maryland. She placed third on bars. By the time January came, Jillian was competing as a level eight. At the Maryland Classic, she finished second on vault and third on bars. Her next meet was the Parkette Invite. She finished second all-around and first on bars. She also earned valuable experience at the American Twisters Invite which was held in Florida. At the Virginia State Championships, Jillian finished third on beam and fourth in the all-around.
In late 2005, Jillian competed as a level nine at the Commonwealth Cup and Winter Island Getaway Invitational. She swept the titles at the Commonwealth Cup but suffered a few falls at the second meet. Jillian also had solid competitions at the Excalibur Cup and Presidential Classic. At the State Championships, she won the all-around, vault and bars title. She was second on beam and floor. Jillian moved onto Regionals where she won vault and finished fourth all-around. Her level nine season ended at the Eastern Championships. She placed on vault. After the level nine season, Jillian qualified to Hopes pre-elite. In the month of July, she competed at the US Challenge in Kansas City, Missouri.
She began competing level ten in 2007. She finished fourth on floor at the Daytona Beach Open and Battle of Champions. At the Gasparilla Classic, she won vault. She finished second on beam and in the all-around. She won floor at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At States, she qualified for Regionals. In 2008, she finished third on beam at the Battle of Champions. She competed at the City of Lights Invitational. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she won a bronze on beam.
In 2009, she made major improvements with her new gym. In late 2008, she won the all-around at the Longhorn Fall Classic. Jillian won a bronze medal on beam at the Battle of Championships. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she tied for first on vault. She finished second on bars and in the all-around. At the Gasparilla Classic, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She won the all-around at the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. She also won bars. She placed second on beam and third on floor. At States, she tied for second on vault. At Regionals, Jillian finished tenth all-around. She qualified for the JO National Invitational Tournament.
