Lindsey Cheek was born on November 25, 1992. She trained at Classic City Gymnastics through the 2006 season. She then moved to Georgia Elite. Lindsey graduated from high school in December 2010 to join Georgia for the 2011 season.

In 2004, Lindsey competed level nine. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. She won vault and bars at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. Lindsey finished first all-around at the Carolina Classic. She finished in the top twenty at Regionals. In 2005, Lindsey finished eleventh all-around at Regionals. She competed at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2006. After finishing seventh at Regionals, she competed at JO Nationals.

Lindsey continued competing level ten in 2007. She won the all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She finished 16th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2008, Lindsey finished first on bars and fourth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed ninth on bars. She finished 11th all-around. Lindsey had a strong 2009 season. She won the all-around at the AOGC Invitational. At the State Championships, she finished first on bars, beam and the all-around. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished second on vault and in the all-around. She placed third on bars and beam. She missed the 2010 season because of a fracture in her foot.
