Gracie Cherrey was born on October 3, 1996. She trained at Perpetual Motion Gymnastics in Minnesota until the fall of 2011. She then moved to Twin City Twisters. She will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2004, Gracie competed level five. She won floor at the Peppermint Twist. She moved up to level six in 2005. She won the all-around title at States. In 2006, she competed level seven. She won beam at the Northern Lights Invitational. At the Level 7 State Championships, she won vault and floor. She finished sixth all-around. Gracie moved up to level eight in 2007. She won bars and beam at States. She finished fourth all-around. She qualified for the Regional Championships where she finished fourth on beam.
Gracie moved up to level nine for the 2008 season. She finished third on bars at the Northern Lights Invitational. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Rising Stars Invitational. At States, she finished second on floor and fourth all-around. Her final level nine meet was Westerns. She placed fifth on floor and in the all-around. She competed as a hopes elite at the US Challenge. Gracie moved up to level ten in 2009. She began the season by winning all five gold medals at the Winterfest. She won bars at the Twin Cities Classic. At the Harley Invitational, she won vault, bars and the all-around. Gracie finished third on bars at Regionals. She qualified for the JO National Invitational Tournament but was injured. She returned in the summer season to compete as a junior pre-elite at the US Challenge.
In 2010, Gracie finished second all-around at the WinterFest and third all-around at the Winter Challenge. She placed first on beam and second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the State Championships, she placed first on beam and fourth all-around. Gracie placed second on beam at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, she won beam and the all-around. In 2011, Gracie finished second all-around at the Gopher Invite and third all-around at the Winterfest. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. At the Rising Stars Invitational, she placed first on vault. She competed on bars only at Regionals, placing second.
