Justine Cherwink was born on November 21, 1992. She trained at Petra Sports through the 2006 season. She trained at The Rock in 2009. Justine graduated from high school a year early in 2009. She attended Texas Women's University in 2010 while training at Denton Gymnastics Academy.

In 2004, Justine competed level seven. She finished second on bars at the North State Championships. At the State Championships, she finished in the top ten all-around. Justine competed level eight in 2005. In 2006, she competed level nine. She finished third on bars at the State Championships. At Westerns, she placed third on vault. She finished 28th all-around.

Justine competed level ten in 2009. She finished twelfth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished eighth all-around. Justine placed second on vault at the JO National Invitational Tournament. She finished sixth all-around. In 2010, she finished third all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. She placed second all-around at the State Qualifier. Justine finished in the top ten at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on floor. Justine placed seventh on vault and eighth on floor at JO Nationals. She narrowly missed making elite in the summer.

Justine tore her Achilles in November of 2010. She returned in late February to exhibition on bars. She later earned a spot in the vault and bars lineups.
