Wynter Childers was born on December 28, 1997. She trains at Spearfish Gymnastics Academy in South Dakota.
Wynter began gymnastics at the age of 2.5 and quickly rose through the levels. She skipped level five and began competing level six. In 2006, Wynter finished fourth all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup as a level seven. By the end of the season, she was competing level eight. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at States. At Regionals, she won floor. She also placed in the top ten all-around. Wynter moved up to level nine in 2007 at the age of eight. She swept the gold medals at States.
She continued competing level nine in 2008. She won a silver medal on beam at Regionals. At Westerns, she finished second on floor. Her first year of level ten was in 2009. Unfortunately, she struggled with a hamstring injury during the season. This did not stop her from qualifying to hopes elite at the Metroplex Challenge. Wynter also swept the golds at the Beach Party Invitational. She did not compete in the all-around at States. She was back to finish third all-around and second on floor at Regionals. She ended the season with a top thirty performance at JO Nationals.
In 2010, Wynter had a great season. She swept the gold medals at the Cereal City Classic. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the Magical Classic. She placed second all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. At the State Championships, she again won all five events. At Regionals, she placed fifth all-around and first on floor. Wynter ended her level ten season by placing ninth all-around at JO Nationals. She also placed fifth on floor.
