Emylie Chinen was born on November 8, 1993. She will graduate from Bellevue High School in 2011. She trained at Gymnastics East in Washington as a club gymnast.
In 2002, Emylie competed as a level four. She finished third all-around at the Rainier Cup. She moved up to level five in 2003. She won vault at the Desert Devils Classic. By 2004 Emylie was competing as a level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She won the all-around title at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She also won vault and bars. At the Level 8 State Championships, Emylie was named the state champion in the all-around and uneven bars. She was also named to the Washington State Team. This allowed her to participate in a special competition at Regionals. At Regionals, she won vault and bars. Emylie also won the all-around title.
Emylie began competing as a level nine in the 2006 season. She won the all-around title at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished second all-around at the Booms and Blossoms Competition. At the State Championships, she finished first on bars and beam. She was second on vault and in the all-around. At Regionals, she won beam. Emylie won a bronze medal in the all-around. At Westerns, she finished within the top twenty all-around.
She began competing level ten in 2007. She finished fourth all-around at the Flips USA Invitational. She won vault at the Hard Rock Invitational. At the Great West Gymfest Emylie won floor. At States, she finished fifth all-around. She placed third all-around at Regionals, qualifying for the JO National Championships. In 2008, Emylie won vault, floor and the all-around titles at the Metroplex Challenge. She won beam at the Vegas Cup. At the Battle in Seattle, she won vault. Emylie won floor at States. She finished second all-around. At Regionals, she won vault, beam and the all-around titles. She finished third on bars and second on floor. She ended her season at JO Nationals. Emylie did not compete in 2009 because of injuries.
Emylie competed for her high school in 2010. She won vault at the KingCo Championships. She finished third on bars, floor and in the all-around. She then won the all-around at the Sea-King District Championships. She placed second on bars at the State Championships.
