Casey Jo Magee was born on July 17, 1988. She is the youngest of three children to Charlie Magee and Geni Morrow. She has an older sister, Ali and an older brother, J.T. She attended South Eugene High School. She graduated in 2006. During her club career, Casey trained at the National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics.

In 2000, she competed as a level eight. She finished second all-around at the Hawaiian Invitational. After a few meets of level nine, she moved up to level ten. At the 2001 JO National Championships, Casey competed in her fifth meet as a level ten! She had a respectable finish. In 2002, Casey placed second all-around and first on beam at Regionals. She made her second trip to JO Nationals. Her third year as a level ten was in 2003. She won every event at Regionals. Casey competed at her third JO National Championships.

Casey won the Oregon Level 10 State Title in 2004. She won bars and beam as well. At Regionals, she won the all-around title. Casey finished in the top twenty-five at JO Nationals. In 2005, she finished first on bars and floor at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished fifteenth all-around! Casey also won beam. In 2006, she won the level ten state title. She also won vault, bars and floor. Casey then won vault and floor at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she won her second beam title. She finished out her club career with a fifth place all-around finish.

As a freshman at Arkansas, she competed in the all-around. She qualified for the NCAA Championships as an individual. She earned six event wins. She tied the school beam record. She won the all-around at the Arkansas Quad. She was on the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll. In 2008, Casey became the first Arkansas gymnast to earn a pair of All-American honors. She finished fifth on bars and vault at the NCAA Championships to earn second-team honors on both. She won the all-around against Penn State, Michigan State and Kentucky. She won two bars, three all-around and five beam titles. Casey was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

During her junior season, Casey earned her second spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She continued to compete in the all-around. She won the all-around five meets in a row against Ohio State, Oregon State/Cal, Florida, Oklahoma and Alabama. She later won against LSU and the TWU quad meet. She finished second all-around at the NCAA Regional Championships. Casey won uneven bars, beam and floor at the first meet against Ohio State. She later won beam titles against Florida, Oklahoma, Kentucky, LSU, TWU Quad Meet, SEC Championships and at the NCAA Regional Championships. She won bars against LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma. She won floor against Alabama and at the NCAA Regional Championships. She won two vault titles, against Georgia and at the TU quad meet. She earned SEC Gymnast of the Week honors.
