Sydney Converse was born on June 19, 1997. She trains at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center.

In 2005, Sydney competed level five at the Tuckers Valentine Invitational. In the fall, she competed level six. She also earned a spot on the Diamond National TOP Team. Sydney moved up to level seven in 2006. She had strong finishes at the Atlanta Crown Invitational and IGI Chicago Style. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall. She moved up to level eight in 2007. Sydney won the all-around title at Regionals. She again made the National TOPs Team. In 2008, Sydney competed level nine. She won beam and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She qualified for the National TOPs Team.

She moved up to level ten in 2009. Sydney placed fourth all-around at the Palm Beach Invitational. She swept the gold medals at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, she placed second on floor. She finished 15th all-around at Regionals. She continued competing level ten in 2010. She won beam and floor at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she won floor and placed third all-around. She finished second on floor at the Pikes Peak Cup and fourth all-around at the Tiger Paw Invitational. At the Spring Break-Out, Sydney won vault. She won floor and placed third on beam at State. Sydney won floor at Regionals.
